From May 31 to June 2, the National MAS Dean Working Conference 2024 was held in Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics. The conference was sponsored by the National Graduate Education Steering Committee for Applied Statistics, hosted by the College of Statistics and Data Science, Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics, and co-organized by the Higher Education Branch of China Statistical Education Society. More than 180 members of the teaching advisory Committee, leaders of various training units and representatives of teachers attended the meeting. Jiang Jun, Secretary of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and Gong Yicheng, Department of System Science, attended the meeting.

Mao Youfeng, chairman of the Teaching Steering Committee and president of the Chinese Statistical Education Society, delivered a speech at the meeting. Wang Bida, president of Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics, delivered a speech. The opening ceremony of the meeting was presided over by Jing Zonggang, vice president of Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics.

In his speech, Mao Youfeng emphasized that it is necessary to continue to encourage the establishment of alliances or cooperation platforms among universities to improve the quality of joint talent training through complementary advantages; to continue to encourage the statistics schools (departments) of various universities and other applied disciplines to jointly create cross-disciplinary talent training platforms. Give full play to their respective professional advantages and jointly explore new ideas, new directions, and new models for cultivating high-level applied statistical talents in the era of big data and the Internet. Continue to encourage all training units to organize the compilation and publication of high-quality, high-level postgraduate textbooks for the master's degree in applied statistics that adapt to the characteristics of the new era; continue to encourage all units to organize various forms of teacher training to build a high-level professional degree in applied statistics Graduate faculty. In addition, Mao Youfeng also emphasized the necessity of case library construction, case teaching and practice base construction, and encouraged statistical bureaus at all levels to cooperate with local universities to jointly build a training mechanism for applied statistical innovation talents to cultivate more talents who are adaptable to the urgent needs of industrial innovation and Applied statistics professionals who promote the in-depth development of the digital economy.

Representatives from more than 20 universities including Jilin University of Finance and Economics, East China Jiaotong University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Renmin University of China, Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics, etc., focused on "enrollment selection and training mechanism", Five topics including "Cultivation Plan, Curriculum and Teaching Materials Construction", "Case Teaching and Case Database Construction", "Dissertation Types and Basic Requirements" and "Cultural Tourism Big Data" were reported and experience shared based on the characteristics of each school. During the meeting, teachers from our school actively had extensive and in-depth exchanges with members of the Applied Statistics Master's Education Steering Committee and heads of various training units, broadening ideas and accumulating experience for our school's applied statistics master's degree talent training.
