On March 28, the "Mingli Cup" 2024 Mathematical Modeling National Award Experience Exchange Meeting was held in Conference Room 11A417 of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of our university, with the theme of "How the National Award is Made", and more than 100 teachers and students gathered together to talk about the experience of the mathematical modeling competition.
Wang Ruwu, Vice Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of our university, Ding Yiming, Dean of the School of Science, and representatives of the Mathematical Modeling Association participated in the event, and Zhao Bin, the instructor of the Mathematical Modeling Association of Hubei University of Technology, gave a special lecture on mathematical modeling experience at the exchange meeting as a special guest.
Wang Ruwu, Vice Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, delivered a speech, and he welcomed the teachers and students who participated in the exchange meeting. Our school has always attached great importance to the activities of mathematical modeling competitions, established a leading group for mathematical modeling competitions, formulated various incentives to encourage students to participate, and will continue to vigorously promote the competition to produce more results in the future.
Ding Yiming, Dean of the Faculty of Science, delivered a speech, in which he summarized the breakthrough achievements of our university in the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling last year, introduced the good results of our students in various mathematical modeling competitions, and encouraged students to think more, learn more, communicate more and participate more in this exchange meeting.
Wang Wenbo, the instructor of the Mathematical Modeling Association of our school, introduced the development trend of mathematical modeling competitions, and explained the focus and evaluation standards of major competitions in recent years.
Zhang Qiang, a teacher from the Faculty of Science who guided four teams to win national awards last year, gave suggestions on teamwork in the mathematical modeling competition based on the combination of team members and literacy skills. He believes that contestants should focus on improving their self-literacy and then running in with their teammates. "Teammates need to develop communication and coordination skills and be flexible in dealing with problems," he stressed. ”
Zhao Bin, a teacher from Hubei University of Technology, combined his experience in guiding the National Award team for mathematical modeling and the current hot AI tools, made a profound analysis of the mathematical modeling competition. "Simplifying the handwriting of our names is also a form of modeling." Zhao Bin used writing his name as an example to explain the meaning of "modeling" to the participants, focusing on how to use AI to assist modeling.
The representatives of the teams that won the national award in mathematical modeling in 2023 shared their experience of the competition, shared their participation process, problem-solving methods and ideological preparation, talked about the methods and efforts behind the awards, and answered the questions raised by the participating students.
Sun Qiankun, President of the Mathematical Modeling Association, made a summary of the exchange meeting, he said that the sharing of teachers and students at the exchange meeting was practical and profound, and the association will review the experience of the excellent team and pass on the mathematical modeling experience to more modeling enthusiasts in more diverse forms.
After the meeting, Wang Ruwu, Ding Yiming and Wang Wenbo presented awards to the outstanding instructors and the teams that won the first and second prizes of the National Competition in Mathematical Modeling.
