From May 17 to 19, the 8th China Conference on System Science was grandly held in Wuhu, Anhui. Our college’s dean, Ding Yiming, led a delegation of 35 teachers and students to participate in the conference.
Before the conference, Ding Yiming represented our university to make a report on the "Application for Hosting the 10th China Conference on System Science". The conference's guidance committee comprehensively considered factors such as regional discipline development needs, the hosting unit’s academic background, and the preparation status of the conference. After intense discussion, Ding Xiaodong, convener of the State Council's System Science Discipline Evaluation Group and president of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, announced that Wuhan University of Science and Technology has won the right to host the 10th China Conference on System Science.
During the conference, 23 system science teachers and graduate students from our university gave oral presentations in various groups.
System science, with strong support and promotion from senior experts and scholars such as Qian Xuesen, has formed a good academic foundation and development trend in China. Since the 21st century, to respond to the challenges brought by social and technological developments to system science, there has been an urgent need to establish a nationwide academic exchange and interdisciplinary platform for the system science community. In 2017, the China Conference on System Science was jointly initiated by the Shanghai Institute of System Science, the Institute of Systems Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the School of Systems Science of Beijing Normal University, the School of Traffic Systems Science and Engineering of Beijing Jiaotong University, and the Chinese Society for Systems Engineering. To date, eight conferences have been successfully held, all of which have been widely praised by the participants and have had a profound impact.
It is reported that this conference was hosted by the Shanghai Institute of System Science and the China Conference on System Science Guidance Committee, organized by Anhui University of Technology, and chaired by Guo Lei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress. The conference received a total of 1,281 submissions. After review and approval by the conference's academic committee, 620 were selected for oral presentations and 409 for poster presentations.
The 10th China Conference on System Science will be held in Wuhan in May 2026, with an expected attendance of over 1,500 people. This conference is expected to further enhance the influence of our university's system science discipline nationwide.
