(Reporter Li Jiacheng) On June 21, the final of our university's 11th Faculty Basketball Tournament was held at the Qinhu Gymnasium in the Huangjiahu Campus. The faculty basketball team of our institute competed fiercely with the administrative basketball team and ultimately won the runner-up position.
With the tacit cooperation of all team members and the strong support of teachers and students, our faculty basketball team successfully made it to the finals. Former dean Li Shougai even took on the role of coach and formulated game strategies for the team. Our institute's leaders, teachers, and students spontaneously came to the Qinhu Gymnasium, hoisting the institute's flag and chanting, " School of Science, come on!"
Before the final began, our team members warmed up on the court, practicing shots and other moves. At the referee's signal, the game officially started. The opponents scored the first 2 points, but our No. 8 player, Wang Yuhua, made a successful three-point shot, putting us ahead. Our No. 6 player, Ma Ben, played strong defense, successfully blocking the opponents' shots multiple times. By the end of the first quarter, our institute was temporarily leading with a score of 8:5.
Both sides were evenly matched, and by the end of the second quarter, our institute was trailing the administrative basketball team by 1 point. After the start of the third quarter, both teams fought fiercely. Our No. 12 player, Kong Xiangxin, actively attacked and worked perfectly with teammates, seamlessly passing and shooting. In the final quarter, the administrative basketball team gained a 4-point lead. Despite this, our players did not get discouraged. After scoring 2 points, our No. 7 player, Zhu Zhen, scored 2 free throws, closing the gap slightly. In the end, our institute finished as the runner-up with a score of 21:25.
"I've never seen our teachers so vigorous and handsome. They were great!" exclaimed Tang Jinxin from Class Gongli 2302. "The never-give-up spirit of our teachers on the basketball court has also inspired me. I believe our institute will move forward with such enthusiasm and develop better and better!"
